A welcome from our new owner and publisher, Kathryn Nash:

Welcome. We hope you enjoy our mix of design-inspired stories. Our new editorial direction has the goal of “elevating the interior life.” With this in mind, we have selected stories that show how our private spaces and settings can inspire, reveal local history, and nurture relationships.

Since Nashville Interiors first arrived on newsstands sixteen years ago, online rooms and resources have become well-worn paths for information. We’ve all changed. Nashville Interiors has also changed, offering a dynamic web presence. Our annual print edition continues with a new vision, offering a visual journal of stories that remind us why design and sense of place matter in the first place.

In print, we take you across the threshold of fine homes with great personality. We also introduce you to collectors, visual artists, and masters of craft from across our region. Travel with us to a mountain top cabin, urban markets, an orchid greenhouse, and to historic Bright Hour Farm in Brentwood. Our cover story explores a lakefront retreat designed by Christopher Architecture and
Interiors of Birmingham, one of our long-time supporters. Each of our advertisers connect you with great style and expertise.

Music City, USA is made up of generations who make music both an economy and a lifestyle. Certainly, nothing elevates our interior life like music and its rich artifacts and venues. So, we are pleased to introduce you to Tennessee’s senior luthier, Charles Gene Horner. My own mandolin bears his initials and is a prized possession. Shannon Pollard and Lon Eldridge are two younger
Tennessee musicians who collect and curate the culture, building bridges to new audiences.

There’s no more exciting time to live in Tennessee for those who seek an authentic sense of place and value the visual and performing arts.

We hope our pages inspire you to playfully explore design and fine art in your special places.
