NEW YORK CITY. Artist and Emmy award winner Wayne White, who grew up in Tennessee, now has a wallpaper brand to add to his long list of creative mediums.

‘Waynetopia,’ a new wallpaper produced by Jon Sherman with Flavor Paper, won best wallpaper this weekend at the prestigious International Contemporary Furniture Fair held in New York.
Flavor Paper, based in Brooklyn, specializes in hand-silk screen printing, and offers customized digital wallpaper solutions, with showrooms in over a dozen international cities.
‘Waynetopia’ paper is based on the mural Wayne White painted on the dining room wall of the Los Angeles home he share’s with his wife, illustrator and writer Mimi Pond. Her name may also be familiar, as she was a writer for the first episode of The Simpsons, among other interesting accolades.
Wayne White grew up in Hixson, a semi-rural suburb of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and attended public school, Hixson High, where he began his connection with fine art and humor. White defies any narrow approach to the areas where fine art makes an emotional connection. He has worked as a cartoonist, illustrator, set designer, puppeteer, teacher, musician, sculptor, and author (Maybe Now I’ll Get the Respect I So Richly Deserve, 2009).
Beauty is Embarrassing, the 2009 biopic of White’s journey from Tennessee to New York, is a poignant and humorous visual memoire. The film chronicles the realizations he’s made as he worked on wide-ranging projects including the phenom of Pee Wee’s Playhouse.
