The weather gets colder, the leaves change colors and tree lots pop up everywhere. Suddenly, you know it’s Christmas time.

Family traditions really come alive in the brisk winter air, and whether yours is going to grandma’s house or baking cookies with your dad, everyone has a Christmas tree tradition. Some families pack up and pick them out together, while some reuse the same artificial one every year – that’s what my family does – and some decorate it together.

At my house, an electric blue tree oddly fits right into place in the living room. It’s covered with bubble lights and decades worth of ornaments, topped by my mom’s angel from her childhood. A mass of presents jumbled under the tree, along with the cat getting comfy and hidden, this is Christmas to me.
