Downtown Nashville’s latest cocktail lounge, Sidebar, opened inside the boutique hotel Bode at the corner of Second Avenue and Korean Veterans Blvd. last week, delivering refreshing spirits, curated light bites and weekly live music programming in a laidback, downtown environment.

The beverage program at Sidebar includes a mix of well-known classics and seasonally-inspired libations curated by beverage director and Nashville native, Meg Hoberg in collaboration with New School. Tapping into the ultra-craft Nashville beverage scene, Sidebar’s menu also features an impressive collection of wine and beer – including its own custom draft, Sidebar Blonde, created in collaboration with East Nashville Brew Works.

Hoberg brings authentic Southern charm and a passion for hospitality to her role at Sidebar after leading food and beverage programs at local hotspots across the city including Noelle, The Bobby Hotel and Westmont Hospitality Group. In her new role, Hoberg oversees menu development, bar management, f&b staffing and on-property events.

Much like the ethos behind Bode, the menu at Sidebar was created to be shared amongst friends and offers an elaborate selection of Southern-inspired bites perfect for happy hours or late-night snacks. Menu highlights include the Southern Pulled Pork Sliders with pulled pork, slaw, brioche slider buns and barbeque sauce; Bavarian Soft Pretzel with a giant pretzel, house-made honey mustard and sea salt; and Barbecue Chicken Flatbread with grilled chicken, barbecue sauce, mozzarella, red onion and basil. Sidebar took to local artisans to create its iteration of the ultimate cocktail complement – the charcuterie board – which includes a selection of meats, cheeses, honeys, crackers, fruits and jams, available in both small or large portions.

Just steps from Lower Broadway, Sidebar takes inspiration from its humbled past as a carport within Bode, the former multi-unit housing complex turned boutique hotel. Utilizing a craftsman approach, the lively space boasts a warm palette of worn leather, industrial accents and dark-stained wood accompanied by a collection of vintage Americana trinkets and floor-to-ceiling windows that open to the sprawling outdoor courtyard. With entertainment at its core, Sidebar houses a versatile indoor performance stage with a regular schedule of live music programming.

To celebrate the grand opening, Sidebar is offering three promotions through May 31, 2021: Guests with a valid Tennessee ID can enjoy half-off their first drink;
Guests who post a photo to Instagram and tag @bode.hotels and @sidebarnasvhille will receive a complimentary drink ticket; and frontline workers can enjoy 15% off their bill when they show a valid form of ID.
